In the beginning, there were four ordinary parents. Exhausted from the daily toils of fatherhood and burdened by the ego-crushing weight of mid-life crises, they thirsted for more. Like a Phoenix rising from a mountain of dirty diapers and Legos, they rose to their feet and proclaimed, “We wanna rock”!  And with that, ThunderKat was born.

Based in Lawrence, Kansas, ThunderKat stands as the city’s premium (and pretty much only) '80s epic power rock cover band. The band delivers a diverse collection of work from artists such as Motley Crue, Poison, Joan Jett, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Rick Springfield, Pat Benatar, Tom Petty, The B-52s, Journey, Night Ranger, Billy Idol, Van Halen and Prince. Music that keeps the crowd rockin' and dancin' all night long.

The band engages in many philanthropic efforts in the region, including performances at fundraisers for Lawrence Memorial Hospital, the Lawrence Humane Society, CASA and local schools.

In Lawrence, ThunderKat performs regularly at the JazzHaus and the Bottleneck.

​

The band has continued to evolve over the years, but the ear-splitting spectacle known as ThunderKat remains strong and true.
